The Omega Model 500 is built the same as the Model 1000. The only difference is the Model 500 has a Plastic bowl instead of Stainless Steel. This unit is just as durable as the 1000, just a little more affordable. Our  family has built this same basic style juicer for over 40 years and we still  the Model 500 in Southern California. Motor: Our 1/3 Horsepower 3600-Rpm General Electric Induction Motor is quietest motor of this style juicer. These "brushless" motors have very few moving  parts that rub together which make them very dependable.
